Every November 10 to commemorate the Surabaya 1945 battle between Indonesia and the Netherlands.

Beginning on March 1, 1942 Japanese troops landed on Java. Then on March 8, the Dutch colonial government surrendered unconditionally to Japan. With atomic bombs dropped on Japan (Hiroshima and Nagasaki) in August 1945 by the United States, on August 15, 1945 the Japanese surrendered unconditionally to the Allies.

During the three years that Japan occupied Indonesia, the Indonesian people suffered and wars continued. Then the British army was brought to Indonesia by decision and on behalf of the Allies
But behind the British helping Indonesia there was a mission to return Indonesia to the Dutch government as a colony. That is what blew the anger of the people of Indonesia everywhere.

The war between the Indonesian people and the British in Surabaya ensued until Brigadier General Mallaby, (leader of the British army for East Java) was killed, on 30 October.

On the morning of November 10, the army made a truce and a large number of warships. Thousands of residents were victims, many died and many more were injured. Many fighters were killed and people were killed became a victim when that was later remembered as Heroes’ Day.”
